Working Out Every Day?

"I'm not THAT disciplined" ... "Won't I burn out?" ... My answers in this post:

April's Monthly Workout Warriors list at Anytime Fitness in East Petersburg, PA

I get asked - a lot - whether I still workout early every day. Yep - in fact here’s a shot of April’s Workout Warriors at Anytime Fitness. There are some months where I miss a day or two, but for the most part it’s every day.

Why every day? Doesn’t that take a lot of discipline? - Actually, for me, every day compensates for a lack of discipline. Vision (your big WHY) and a habit beats discipline any day. Because I don’t have a goal of working out 3 to 5 times per week, for instance, it’s simply never a choice. Something has to be terribly out of the ordinary (like driving to BWI airport at 3am for a 6am flight) for me to not work out. Getting up, having coffee and Bible/prayer time, and exercising at Anytime on the way to work is just the routine ... as is packing my gym bag and lunch for the next day in the evening. If it’s every day - there’s no decision and no real discipline needed.

Doesn’t your body need a rest? - (a) I vary my workouts so they aren’t always intense ... some days may literally be a one hour walk versus 30-45 minutes near my top speeds. Or I may do functional calisthenics versus pounding plates. After over a year of doing this, (b) I can honestly say that I’ve never burned myself out physically and the only times when I start feeling physically run down it’s due to overbooking myself and not getting enough sleep.

Do I enjoy exercise? Not in the least. But, I do enjoy feeling great ... in knowing I’m being a better steward of this meat suit God gave me to house my mind and spirit and His Holy Spirit, and in knowing that because I do this I’m available and equipped to respond to His daily call and Guidance no matter what that is. And that makes it more than worth it to me.

Praying your work week is wrapping up well! I love and appreciate you!
